Road-Tested Bike Tours LLC plans road and rail-trail bicycle tours in Virginia; Pennsylvania; Washington, DC; Maryland; and West Virginia, each of which are personalized just for you. Based in Richmond, Virginia, the company was founded by Deb Young, an experienced cyclist, who in 2001 began creating, leading and riding self-supported tours in the Eastern United States and in the province of Quebec, Canada.

Deb’s passion for cycling was ignited in the late 1990s on the Great Allegheny Passage while she was living in Pittsburgh. She has ridden the GAP rail-trail not only on her bicycle but also portions of it on her horse! She organized her first self-guided and self-supported tour in 2001 on Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. The fun and success of that adventure encouraged her to continue planning tours to make it easier for others to enjoy the rail-trails and roads she is so familiar with.

Deb is a registered host with Warm Showers, a website for bicyclists who need a free place to stay while touring. She is a member of Adventure Cycling Association and the Rails to Trails Conservancy. She has been a ride leader for the Western Pennsylvania Wheelmen from 2000 to 2008 and for the Richmond Area Bicycling Association from 2009 to the present. She regularly volunteers for the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation as a Good Samaritan support rider for the Cap 2 Cap annual bike ride and event staff for other functions. She is an official Tourism Ambassador for Richmond Region Tourism. And she has ridden in nine consecutive Bike Virginia tours, an annual event that sparked her love of Virginia and her relocation from Pittsburgh to Richmond.

Deb is also a member of the world-wide RideWithGPS Ride Ambassador Program, a select group of experts who showcase high quality routes that they have ridden and know well.

Deb’s love of planning, attention to detail and serving others extends to her day job as a CPA and tax accountant. She also loves playing Celtic music on the chromatic harmonica.
